Holy shit. I love studying music.
RIP, David Weiss, who Art in America reports has died, aged 66. Weiss and his longtime artist partner, Peter Fischli were way ahead of the current penchant for Rube Goldberg-inspired filmmaking. Above is an extract from their film, The Way Things Go (Der Lauf der Dinge), the 30-minute extravaganza they created in 1987. As Flo Heiss, executive creative director of ad agency Dare commented on Twitter, the film is the “most copied, magical artwork of all time.” Thoughts to friends and family.

Visualization: Movies of Wong Kar-Wai
Frame sheets of the directors films put together by Benjamin Wimmer:
With The Grandmasters finally having a release date (2012/12/18) I thought it would be nice to do a recap of Wong Kar-wai’s feature films. As IMHO his movies are primary made for being experienced rather than discussed/analysed, I thought I’d go for visual summaries:
Below, his movies compressed to single pictures (ever 60th frame was used) showing nicely the movies’ pace as well their overall colour schemes. Enjoy.Above are:
- Chungking Express
- As Tears Go By
- Days Of Being Wild
- In The Mood For Love
There are more of these frame sheets, which can be found here.
UPDATE: Benjamin has upload a ZIP file containing hires versions of the collection, available here
Philip Glass - Metamorphosis 1
Minimalism at its best.
Pierre Schaeffer - Apostrophe.
YouTube comment: ‘I shag to this’.

Old Skateboards
A line of skateboards created by designer RM Sulzbach promises strictly premium quality Canadian maple decks. The pre-order for the limited edition set began a few days ago, but few other details are known about this project. We’re skeptical of anything skateboard related that doesn’t involve Tony Hawk Pro Skater and a Nintendo 64 controller - but these are beautifully crafted and can be showcased as art as easily as they could be dirtied up by a pair of Vans.

I corrupted a photo on purpose, and now it won’t let me upload it.
It’s a completely legitimate .jpeg file.

MAX 6. PART 2.
I am synthesising a phone conversation. It starts with a dial tone, 7 digits (DTMF) dialled, a ring tone, audio dialogue (conversation) and a phone ‘click’.
This is what it looks like so far, but I am having trouble with sequencing the signals to play once without repeating. I doubt many people browse this blog, but if anyone knows anybody that knows Max 6 like a pro, it would be nice to get advice.

Max 6. Traffic light patch. Beginner.
This program is confusing as hell but I like that it makes me want to cry and laugh at the same time.
